EYFS Curriculum Design
Updated January 2022
Class 1 is currently a reception class. We are lucky enough to have a large classroom with access to a beautiful, spacious outdoor classroom which the children can access freely during their independent learning time. Our curriculum is designed to engage and inspire children by giving them the opportunity to explore new ‘big ideas’ whilst simultaneously building on and capitalising on their individual interests and passions. All of our learning experiences are made fun and engaging and are rooted in purposeful play. To see details of how our curriculum is delivered please see our curriculum design.
Langenhoe EYFS team are passionate about our Parent Partnership and we endeavour to fully inform and involve our parents in all we do; parents receive a weekly newsletter updating them on the learning we have planned each week and keeping them updated with any upcoming events or exciting curriculum enhancements we have planned. These newsletters can be viewed below. We work closely with parents to enable our children to take ownership of their online learning journals (Tapestry), sharing their interests, achievements and expertise from both home and school. We also use it as a platform to encourage parents and children to engage in a dialogue about their experiences at school with our weekly “Ask me about…” posts.
Class 1 is always buzzing with excitement, productivity and smiling faces. We love to capture the awe and wonder in learning and go on exciting learning journeys together.
Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Thursday.
We could hardly believe our ears and eyes when we received a video message from a Palaeontologist at the Natural History museum! He told us that he has reason to believe that there may be dinosaur remains somewhere here at Langenhoe school and asked if we would look for him! We learnt that palaeontologists are dinosaur experts who study dinosaur fossils and bones! We set off to the wildlife area where we found an excavation site and guess what? We found lots of bones! We carefully cleaned them with brushes and tried to work out which part of the dinosaur they might be. We have decided that we would like our topic this term to be…. DINOSAURS! Watch this space!
