Dear Parents/Carers and Staff,
We recommend that any children and/or adults (parents and staff) who have a member of their family/household who has tested positive for COVID-19 or been a close contact of someone who has tested positive do DAILY Lateral Flow tests for 10 days after the confirmed case/contact. If your child receives a positive result from their Lateral Flow test they should not attend school and seek a PCR test for confirmation. If your child develops symptoms of COVID (high temperature, persistent cough and/or loss of taste or smell) or becomes at all unwell then please book a PCR test, even if a Lateral Flow test has returned a negative result. COVID can manifest itself in different ways for different people and we have known recent positive cases to have a variety of symptoms such as sore throat, feeling sick/upset tummy and headaches etc. By way of reminder, all children, families and staff are encouraged to do Lateral Flow tests twice a week on an ongoing basis, even if not in direct contact with any positive cases.
Many thanks for your co-operation in keeping everyone safe.

Please note that on Thursday 2nd December, there will be no parking available in the layby at drop off as this will be reserved for the coaches to park to take the whole school to the pantomime. For the coaches to be able to safely drive into the school we ask that all parents leave promptly after drop off also.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
Just to advise you all that this coming weekend School Ping will be unavailable from 9pm Friday 3rd December to 6am Monday 6th December. This is due to essential maintenance being carried out by New Era (the company who runs/owns School Ping) across all their platforms.
Our apologies for any inconvenience this causes.

As you know the whole school are going on a trip to see Aladdin at the Mercury Theatre on Thursday 2nd December 2021. Thank you to all who have made their contribution payments of £20.50 already. Please can we remind you that ALL parents agreed to contribute to the full cost in order for the trip to be viable and based on that agreement the school made full payment in advance. We therefore ask that all parents who have not yet paid, do so promptly and by the 29th November at the latest. If you have any problems making payment via Ping please contact the school office.
On the day, children need to arrive at school promptly at the usual time for registration. They will then be getting straight onto the coaches to leave at 9.15am to get to the Mercury theatre in time for the 10.15am performance. Please note if your child is not in school on time they may miss the trip, as the coach will be leaving promptly. There will be no provision for any child to remain at school during the trip as all teaching staff will be attending. Therefore please leave plenty of time to be ready on the 2nd December. Children should wear school uniform as usual and will need a suitable coat for the weather on the day.
The coaches will drop us off at Head Street and Staff will walk the children safely round to the Mercury Theatre. The children will be collected by coach at Head Street around 12.50pm, to be back at school around 1.15pm for a slightly later lunch. Therefore if they are having packed lunches, their lunch boxes should be left in their lockers at school as usual. Any children having school dinners will be served dinner as booked.
Thanks to the generous donations from parents, the children will be having an ice cream (or lolly for those with specific dietary requirements) during the interval. The children can bring their own drink but we ask that this is in a disposable bottle or carton (no fizzy drinks or glass bottles) clearly labelled and for children to hand their drink to their class teachers when they arrive at school on the day. Staff can then distribute them at the interval and dispose of the cartons and bottles afterwards.
Please inform us if your child suffers from travel sickness and ensure they take any necessary medication for this before they arrive at school.
The children should be collected from school at the end of the day at the usual pick up time of 3.15pm.
Any questions or concerns please contact us.

I am delighted to inform you that the Reverend Rob Hughes from Mersea church has agreed to come and hold a Christingle service for parents, children and staff at Langenhoe School again this year.
The service will take place on Tuesday 14th December at 3:30-4:00 in the school hall. Reverend Hughes will conduct the service and all of the children will have the opportunity to make their own Christingle to take away with them.
We only have capacity for 30 families (with no more than 2 adults per family attending) to join us for this. Tickets are free of charge but will need to be ordered via the booking form sent on Ping. We will work on a first come, first served basis.
Please complete and submit the Ping booking form to confirm whether you would like to attend this service, or not, by Monday 6th December.
As an added precaution, given the current level of cases of COVID in the area, we ask that parents attending wear a face covering/mask. Please do not attend if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 (high temperature, persistent cough and loss of taste/smell). We would also recommend that parents do a Latera Flow Test before attending and only attend if this test result is negative.
We do hope to see many of you there.
NB-Please be aware that due to COVID this event may be subject to change or cancellation at short notice.
