School Uniform

As well as being practical and smart, we believe that school uniform reinforces a positive learning environment, as well as promotes a sense of belonging and pride in our school. Uniform can make children feel equal in terms of appearance and be less distracting than other fashion clothes might be.

It is our policy that all children should wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. We have ensured that our School Uniform list is suitable, good value for money and affordable for most parents/carers. Parents/carers can source uniform from a range of suppliers, including non-branded items from most supermarket/clothing retailers. You can view our school uniform policy in full on our policies page.

You can find a complete list of the items needed for school uniform below. We ask that all items are clearly named.

Uniform List

  • White Polo Shirts/Blouse/Shirts (Polo Shirts with Logo are available but not compulsory)
  • Dark Grey or Navy Trousers, Pinafore, Skirt or Shorts
  • Grey/White/Navy Socks
  • Navy Sweatshirt/Cardigan (required in colder weather) with or without Logo
  • Black Closed toe School Shoes
  • Summer Light Blue Gingham Dresses (optional)
  • Blue/Navy/White Hair Ties or Hairbands (Long hair must be tied back at all times)

School Bags

All children must have a navy Langenhoe book bag (available from suppliers listed below).

PE

  • White T-shirt
  • Navy Shorts, Skirt or Skort
  • Navy Tracksuit/Jogging bottoms or leggings (plain)
  • Navy Fleece, Sweatshirt or Jumper (plain/non-school logo) (optional)
  • Black Plimsolls for indoor PE (optional)
  • Trainers (any type) for outdoor activities
  • PE Kit Bag (School Logo or own preference) (Class 1 only)

Please note that in September 2022, our house system was removed. Therefore, children should wear a plain white t-shirt or polo shirt for PE and not a ‘house’ colour t-shirt.

Art

An oversized shirt for art activities (optional).

Jewellery

No jewellery except stud earrings and watches.

Langenhoe Community Primary School legally adheres to the Essex guidance on safety in PE. The Essex policy states that all jewellery (including Fitbits) is to be removed for PE. Taping for any reason is not allowed. This means that if pupils cannot take their earrings out, they will have to sit out of PE until they can remove their earrings. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Make-up and Nail Varnish

We do not allow children to wear make-up and nail varnish in school as we believe this is not appropriate in a primary school setting. Glitter tattoos and henna tattoos are not permitted.

Hair

Dyed hair (other than dress-up or charity days) and extreme haircuts or styles are not permitted. Long hair must be tied back for PE.

Pre-loved Uniform

We support the use of pre-loved items. Good condition uniform items that are no longer required can be donated to Friends and Family (the school’s Parent Teacher Association). These items will be available to purchase for a small amount from stalls that they set up throughout the year, with funds raised going towards the school. You can also access pre-loved uniform from the Essex Uniform Exchange (a local organisation) who can be contacted on 01206 861180 or Uniform@dnanetworks.org
