Tapestry
We use Tapestry in our Reception Class to share learning between school and parents/carers.
Our full Tapestry Policy can be viewed on our Policy page.
Logging in
Your child’s teacher will have linked you to your child’s account using the details you provided. The first time you log in, you need to follow the activation link emailed from the school. Once your account login is activated and you have created your password, you can log in through this link:
https://tapestryjournal.com/
Once you have successfully logged in, you will be taken to the home page. Here you will be able to see your child’s observations from the Observations tab. If you have siblings at the school, you will be linked to them all, and you can select which child you want to look at by clicking on the ‘Children’ tab, located next to the Observations tab. Unfortunately, if you have two children on Tapestry but from different settings, you will need to have two parent accounts.
At the top of the screen, next to your name, you will find your notification bell. If any observations/comments have been added since the last time you logged into Tapestry, they will show up there. You can see past notifications by clicking on ‘View All Notifications’.
In the top right-hand corner, you can see your username. If you click on this, a drop-down menu will appear. From here you can ‘Edit Preferences,’ access help, downloads, and ‘Log Out.’ Tapestry will log you off automatically if you close the page or are inactive for an hour or more.
‘Edit Preferences’ will show you which children are connected to you, your notification preferences, and give you the option to change your email and password.
Observations
Observations will be listed/shown in chronological order. It is likely that the first time you log in there won’t be very many, but this list will grow throughout your child’s time here at Langenhoe. To view an observation in more detail, you can click on it, and it will show you the whole observation on one screen. If you want to narrow down the sort of observations you are seeing, you can click on the ‘Filter & Sort Observations.’
Once you click on it, it will expand to give you a variety of filter options. Select as many as you like, then click ‘Submit’ to apply them.
If there is a specific observation that you are looking for, you can search for a code word in the search bar found on the observation list screen.
Commenting on Observations
You can like and comment on observations posted by teachers. Click onto the observation you want to look at, and it will take you to see it on the whole screen. To add a comment to an observation, scroll down to the bottom of an observation, type your comment in the box, and press ‘Add Comment.’ You can delete a comment you have made by clicking the red ‘X’ button in the top right-hand corner of the appropriate comment. There should also be a ‘Like’ button you can click if you want to show the teacher you like the observation you are looking at. This is useful for teachers who can then see you have read/seen the observations. Comments are also really helpful and provide a great way to interact between parent/carer and teacher about the child’s experiences and learning.
Adding Observations
We would love for parents/carers to add observations from home and out & about. To do this, click on the blue ‘Add Observation’ button found on the home ‘Observations’ tab.
Once you have clicked on it, you will be taken to the observation page. If you are linked to more than one child, you will need to pick your child/children from the drop-down list.
To start an observation, you need to give it a title in the ‘Title’ box. You can then type your observation in the ‘Notes’ box.
To upload media such as photos or videos, click on the “Add Files” button to add single or multiple files from your device, then click the “Start Upload” button to perform the upload. You will see the status of the upload(s), and once finished, you can delete any files or perform edits such as cropping or rotating pictures.
Once you have finished your observation, click on ‘Save.’
It may ask if you want to post your observation – if you are happy with it, click to post the observation. Relatives cannot delete or edit any observations from Tapestry once they are posted, including the ones they have added. Please ensure you are happy with an observation before posting it. If you need to delete it after posting, contact your child’s teacher.
